Project Snapshot
Owner: Storage Post
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Project Type: Remodel
Timeline: April 2025 – May 2026

Converting a former office building into self storage is never a simple undertaking, especially in New York City. The Jayeff Construction team transformed a former WeWork building at 109 South 5th Street in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood into a state-of-the-art climate-controlled self storage facility spanning seven floors, including the basement.

The project began with extensive demolition of the roof, six floors, and cellar before rebuilding the interior to accommodate more than 100 storage units per floor. Former loading areas with vaulted ceilings created unique opportunities to maximize rentable space, allowing Storage Post to stack two, and in some cases three, storage units vertically on the first floor alone.

Building in New York City often means making the most of existing structures rather than expanding outward. This conversion is a prime example of how thoughtful design and construction can transform an underutilized property into a high-performing self storage asset in one of the country’s most competitive urban markets.

Jayeff has partnered with Storage Post on multiple facilities throughout the Northeast, including projects in Clifton, West Caldwell, and Nutley, New Jersey, as well as Suffern, New York. The team is also currently constructing a new Storage Post facility in Queens.
