Jayeff Construction completed the ground-up construction of a six-story, 126,000-square-foot self storage facility at 985 Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City, NJ, for Johnson Development Associates. The completed building operates under the Extra Space Storage brand.
The fully structural steel building features an exterior envelope of insulated metal panels and was designed to provide approximately 91,000 square feet of net rentable storage space. The urban infill facility includes elevator access to all floors and an indoor loading area to improve customer convenience and year-round accessibility.
Constructing self storage facilities in dense urban environments requires careful planning to maximize rentable space while working within a constrained site. The Jersey City project reflects Jayeff’s experience delivering ground-up self storage facilities that meet the operational needs of both owners and customers.
